Happy September everyone! I am excited for this month and the months to come because I love the Fall. I appreciate every season, but Fall tends to be a very busy and productive season with lots of cool events so it makes me happy. Let’s get into how I did for August & what new goals I have set for September.
August Goals Recap
August was a busy but fun month. We went to a local waterpark, enjoyed some time with the kids grandmother and got ourselves prepped and ready for school. Both soccer & school started so now we are full swing into our “regular” routine. I have a 3rd grader and a Kindergartner so I am excited to see how they grow and progress this year. Here’s a look at how I did with my goals for August:
Date Night With Hubby. Accomplished. While my mother in law was here we went out to a local pub and enjoyed some drinks and appetizers together sans children.2 Family Outings. We went on to Montage Mountain Waterpark & had a blast there and we also went picnicking and fishing at a local state park.Get Back to Church. We got back into our routine of going to Church every Sunday (and one Sat night). Trying to get back into the school routine I think was helpful. It’s really nice to be back into a regular routine.Finish Turtles All the Way Down by John Greenwith the family this month. – We did not get around to this which is somewhat disappointing. Between work schedule conflicts, the weather & heat – I am hoping that we will get around to this in August.Declutter– This was a huge success. I cleaned out 3 drawers in my kitchen, one of the upstairs closets, the girls rooms and my work area, throwing away a ton of junk mail, old clothes, broken toys and miscellaneous items that we no longer need.
September Goals
- Enjoy My Birthday – I don’t really like my birthday (there’s a couple of different reasons why) but I really want to enjoy my birthday and my husband’s birthday (his is the day after mine). Hopefully it will be a good week.
- Go on 1 Family Outing – We didn’t get to the zoo, so I am hoping to be able to do that this month.
- Continue Decluttering – I have another closet and 2 other drawers I want to go through and organize.
- Plan out Mackenzie’s Birthday – Her birthday is in the beginning of Oct and so I need to get started on what we are going to do for her big day.
- Make 1 New Recipe – I have a board dedicated to fall goodies here, so I want to try and bake one. I have been craving something apple or pumpkin flavored.
- Start Christmas Shopping/Ideas – Seems a little crazy but I try to get a little bit of a head start so I’m not rushing around for last minute gift ideas.
So that covers my goals I have for September. I am excited for Fall and getting situated into our new school routine.

Thank you for giving me this awesome glance into your home life. I’m single with no children. But I love lists so I imagine my family life would look similar. I hope you meet and exceed for September.
Thanks so much! I love lists as well – it helps me keep myself organized and I feel accomplished when I write things down. Thanks for stopping by!
Great goals! Well done fir all that you accomplished in August. It’s inspiring to me to read about what others have set as priorities. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you – I appreciate you stopping by!
You’ve got some great goals here, and definitely attainable! I don’t think you’re crazy for starting to think about Christmas now – we do a lot of DIY type gifts mixed in with the stuff we buy, so we’ve already started planning things out.
That’s great that you DIY a lot of stuff – I wish I was creative like that. I feel like anytime I try, it ends up costing me more money in the end lol. Thanks for stopping by!
You really accomplished quite a bit in august lots of time for yourself and with your family, it seems like you had a really nice balance. It looks like you have a pretty good handle on September, with birthdays and getting a head start on the holidays. My husband and I do that too with winter holidays, we pick things up or order things as we see them or find a good deal on them. Good Luck and enjoy!! 🙂
Hi Julie,
I’m trying – I think the busier months keep me motivated and for whatever reason I accomplish more when there is less time which truly makes no sense. Thanks for stopping by!
I feel the same way about my birthday sometimes, but you should enjoy it! Birthday’s are a day to appreciate your past, present and future. Focus on you and enjoy every moment because you deserve happiness and fun on your birthday! (:

Thanks Erika! I try to – this year was pretty good 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
Such a great idea setting monthly goals – mine is definitely be more proactive with writing. I’d also like to go back to church each week and exercise more 🙂
Setting the goals definitely helps keep me focused on what I want to accomplish – even if I get a bit off track. Thanks for stopping by!
