Yesterday I went to Walmart and the Dollar Tree and picked up all of Mackenzie’s school supplies (her school gives us a list of what we need to buy which is really helpful). I use the website passionforsavings.com to tell me when there are good deals on back to school stuff and what stores to go to so I figured I would give you guys a look at some of the great deals I got this week and for back to school!
24 pack Crayola Crayons
Walmart had these for 50 cents! You can’t beat that so I picked up a bunch – I also use them throughout the year to put in the kids stockings for Christmas and for Easter baskets as well.
Vegetable & Dip Container
Dollar Tree had these containers (obviously for $1) and I thought they would be great for Mackenzie’s lunch and my lunch during the school year. There is a separate little compartment for dip or salad dressing that comes with a lid so it won’t spill if it gets tossed around in your lunch box.
Surefresh Small Square Container
Dollar Tree also had these really great snack containers that have a built in ice pack in the lid. I figured it would be a good container for fruit or something like that to keep it cold and fresh.
Surefresh Round Snack Container
I thought this was a great deal because there are 3 containers in the package for $1 at Dollar Tree. These will be great for chips, popcorn, nuts, trail mix for snacks for lunch.
Utensil Caddy
I found these caddies at the Dollar Tree and thought they would be great for pencils, crayons, and markers for Mackenzie for her homework station. I bought 2 so that Kylie did not feel left out and they can both work on stuff when they get home together at their desk.
First Aid Kit
Last month we finished baseball season and next month we are starting soccer. I love to carry around a small first aid kit with me in my sports bag to have on hand just in case. While I was at Dollar Tree yesterday I saw these compact first aid kits that come with 4 different types of bandages and antiseptic towelettes in the little carrying case. I bought two of them to have on hand.
Pottery Barn Backpack & Lunchbox
Last year I bought Mackenzie’s backpack at Dollar General because she really liked it – it was Finding Dory theme and was pink and turquoise and really cute. She got the matching lunchbox too. It was great for the year – it didn’t break or anything but this year I wanted to get her something sturdier and that would last a while so I splurged and got her a backpack from Pottery Barn. I am NOT one to pay the crazy prices they ask ($69.50 and that does NOT include personalization OR shipping? Nope.) So I waited and stalked the website toward the end of the year and found the backpack on sale for $25 – that was with personalization and the shipping was free! To me, that was a steal! It’s a really cute backpack, Mackenzie LOVES cats and I thought the cheetah print would be cute for her. It’s also in a darker color (navy) so it won’t get dirty as quickly. A week later I saw that they had the lunchboxes on sale in the same print – so I got her lunch box (the retro style), personalized with free shipping for $23! To me, it paid off to wait and now I know in the future, to wait until around May to buy any back to school stuff from Pottery Barn.
So those are just a few of the things that I picked up for back to school. Keep on the look out for continued great deals in the future. Websites like passionforsavings.com and thekrazycouponlady.com have all the great deals updated daily. Happy shopping!
