Why I Tried It
I was originally introduced to Chewy.com through a friend who uses Chewy to order everything for her dogs. She told me that it is super easy, fast, free shipping over a certain amount ($49), with a 5-10% discount when you sign up for Auto Ship. I was seriously intrigued but did not think it was possible to have exactly what I was looking for and figured there HAD to be a catch but I wanted to try it out and see.
My First Order
I went to their website and was so surprised to find the number of 
different brands of dog and cat food that were available. You can ship by pet (choose from dog, cat, fish, bird, small pet, reptile, or horse), brand or pharmacy or you can also type in what you are looking for in their search. I have been impressed with being able to find great toys for both my cat and my dog – including an indestructible Kong stuffed dog that my dog loves and has yet to be able to rip it apart (it was only $4.82!!). I have never had an issue finding what I’ve needed.
My first purchase included big bags of dog and cat food. I did not think shipping out large bags of dog and cat food would still qualify for free shipping – or if the prices on the site were higher to compensate for the shipping but I was pleasantly surprised. I was able to purchase a 32lb bag of my dog’s food for $25. (I usually got a 16lb bag at my local pet store for $14 – so I was impressed). Same thing for my cats food – a 22lb bag of Meow Mix I was able to buy for $15. I qualified for the free shipping and got 10% off my order for signing up for their Auto Ship.
Great Selection
They have over 1,000 brands of food to choose from. Items such as cages, crates, filters, dental products, toys, beds, brushes, supplements, prescription food – you name it and they have it. Along with my dog and cat food, I purchased a dog toy, cat treats, dog treats, guinea pig food, guinea pig bedding, guinea pig treats – all one stop shop – click, click, pay, wait for it to arrive.
Fast Shipping
Now comes the incredible part – I received my first order within three days of placing it. And this has been a standard – my first order was in May and I have consistently ordered every month since and I have received every order in the same short amount of time. With distribution centers in Nevada, Indiana and Pennsylvania, quick shipment is obviously a priority. It is very easy to make the $49 order minimum especially with as many pets as I have and even if you don’t orders under $49 – the shipping charge is only $4.49.
Convenience
My Auto Ship ships out the 15th of the month. I get a notification several days in advance that I have a limited time to change my Auto Ship before it ships out. I go into my profile, change out the things in my Auto Ship for things I need or to add things and leave it to be shipped. You can also change your Auto Ship to every 5 weeks – 6 weeks – whatever works for you if every month is to frequent. You can also cancel your Auto Ship at any time and their customer service is available 24/7 to help you with any questions or issues you may have.
